Celebrities Read the Declaration of Independence

A host of celebrities including Mel Gibson, Whoopie Goldberg, and Michael Douglas perform a live reading of the Declaration of Independence in Independence Hall, Philadelphia, PA.

Moon Sedai Here. As many of you know, (or may not know) I used to be a history teacher. And today being a traditional American Holiday, I thought I’d post something a little different from our usual Fourth of July fare and get nerducational up in this place.

Fourth of July is not a day about BBQ, Booze, swimming, and stuff. Well, okay, it is, but it’s more than that.

I love this video because it shows the Declaration read by a variety of celebrities people who have called America home, in the very place where it was signed. The Declaration was written to be read aloud to large crowds, especially to other nations (like France) to explain why America was overthrowing King George III.
